Joel grew up in St. Helena where his father was the Mayor, served on the School Board and the City Council, and currently practices law. Following his fathers example of community service, Joel has served as a Chairman of the annual St. Helena Rotary Ball, is a member of the St. Helena Public Schools Foundation Board, and the incoming President of the Boards Endowment Trust. He has been an English-Spanish operating room translator for Rotoplast in Guatemala and a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama where he taught sustainable agriculture practices. Frequently spotted driving a cherry red, 1955 International Harvester truck with his canine companion, Jesse, by his side, Joel actively pursues his outdoor interests including fishing, hiking, abalone diving and dirt biking.
